2010-2011 NTS Scholarship Application Deadline
If you DO NOT currently have a degree scholarship or a President’s Merit scholarship and are taking 8 or more units per semester, you may apply for a 2010-2011 academic year scholarship. The DEADLINE is March 1, 2010. The scholarship application is available at http://www.nts.edu/Default.aspx?p=17143.

Tom Nees Social Justice Award
$1,000 cash award. The selected paper will be presented and discussed in a chapel forum. The award will be presented at the annual NTS Community Celebration Chapel in May. The deadline is midnight, March 1, to the President’s Office – lkneely@nts.edu. (read more)

Scholarships Available from GMC Stewardship Ministries
The Global Ministry Center Stewardship Ministries is making available a $1,000 scholarship to Nazarene students in the USA and Canada Schools and seminaries for one of up to five awards. A successful applicant must submit a sermon based on 2 Chronicles 31:5 exploring holiness as it relates to tithing and living generously. It should address money as it relates to funding the mission of the Church of the Nazarene. Sermons should be submitted by April 1, 2010 (for students competing in spring semester). Winners will be notified in April for the contest. A brochure with additional information is available from the Financial Aid Office.

USA Funds
USA Funds will award $1 million in new scholarships to lower income students for the 2010-2011 academic year. These scholarships will be a one-time award, although the recipient is welcome to apply for the scholarship program in subsequent years, as long as their cumulative awards under the program do not exceed $6,000. As in previous years, the program provides $1,500 scholarships to undergraduates and full-time graduate or professional students from households with incomes of $35,000 or less. The link to apply for the USA Funds Access to Education Scholarship will be available online beginning December 15th at www.usafunds.org/scholarship. The deadline for students to submit scholarship applications is February 15th, 2010.

Graduate Placement Workshop
On Thursday evening, March 18th, from 6:30-9:00 pm, we'll have the annual graduate placement workshop. Our purpose is to help upcoming grads prepare for placement in pastoral ministry positions. We'll cover a variety of topics -- the structure of pastoral compensation, preparing for the interview, emotional issues in pastoral transitions, etc. We'll make a phone call or two to recent NTS grads to hear about their experience of moving from seminary to pastoral ministry. If you are married, please invite your spouse to this session. Please let Pam Rider (psrider@nts.edu) know you plan to attend.
